Culture as the foundation for life promotion, healing and system change

For our First Nations Collaborative March 2026 gathering, we will centre the session on the theme of Culture as the foundation for life promotion, healing, and system change.

This session will focus on how cultural identity, practices, and ways of knowing are not “add-ons” to service delivery, but protective factors that strengthen wellbeing for individuals, families, and communities. We will create space for yarning, reflection, and shared learning about what helps our people heal, stay connected, and feel strong, and how our collective knowledge can better inform the way our systems, services, and partnerships operate.

The session will aim to:

  • Highlight culture as a core determinant of wellbeing and suicide prevention

  • Elevate lived experience and community knowledge

  • Explore how services and systems can better support cultural healing practices

  • Strengthen relationships across the collaborative through shared understanding

When: Tuesday 17 March 10:00am to 12.30pm (light lunch provided)

Where: Nintiringanyi Cultural Training Centre 16-18 McCormack St Cairns
